New Parent Education

New Parent Education

Building confidence for your Parenting Journey

Bringing home a new baby can feel overwhelming, and many parents find themselves asking, “Is this normal?” Our New Parent Education services are designed to help families feel confident, prepared, and supported as they learn how to care for their newborn and adjust to life with a baby.

We provide practical, hands-on education, evidence-based information, and real-life guidance so you feel empowered in your parenting decisions.

Topics We Cover

New parent education is personalized for each family and may include:

  • Newborn appearance and behavior

  • Feeding basics (breast, bottle, pumping)

  • Hunger cues and feeding schedules

  • Burping techniques

  • Diapering and hygiene

  • Umbilical cord care

  • Safe sleep guidelines

  • Swaddling

  • Soothing techniques

  • Infant sleep expectations

  • Tummy time

  • Understanding newborn cues

  • Postpartum recovery basics

  • When to call the pediatrician

  • Normal newborn vs. concerning signs

Hands-On Learning

We believe the best way to learn is by doing. During visits, we can walk you through:

  • How to swaddle

  • How to bathe your baby

  • Bottle preparation

  • Pump basics and cleaning

  • Safe babywearing basics

  • Setting up sleep spaces

  • Practicing soothing techniques

  • Creating daily routines

Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident caring for your baby on your own.

Education Before or After Baby Arrives

New parent education can take place:

  • During pregnancy to prepare ahead of time

  • Shortly after baby arrives

  • During postpartum doula visits

  • As needed when new questions come up

Every baby is different, and questions often come up once baby is home. We are here to provide guidance, reassurance, and support without judgment.

The Goal of New Parent Education

Our goal is not to tell you how to parent, but to give you the knowledge and confidence to make the best decisions for your baby and your family. With the right education and support, new parents can feel calm, confident, and prepared for this new chapter.
